KUALA LUMPUR INTERNATIONAL KALAM SYMPOSIUM 2017

The challenges of our times are complex, yet the adage that resonates through all the problematics of modernity and post-modernity is to live without illusions and without becoming disillusioned. The role of critical thought that not only critiques but also engages positively with these challenges is pivotal, and only through such engagements can knowledge and understanding be furthered. The rich tradition of Kalam has historically proven be provide the language and tools of critical engagement with intellectual ideas and trends and can help facilitate such a conversation.
After the success of the 1st Kuala Lumpur International Kalam Symposium (KLIKS1) in 2016, Kalam Research and Media (KRM) in partnership with the Islamic and Strategic Studies Institute (ISSI), and in association with several Malaysian and Indonesian academic institutions, are delighted to announce the 2nd Kuala Lumpur International Kalam Symposium (KLIKS2) from 21st until 23rd of March 2017 at Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. KLIKS2 will focus on the theme “Kalam’s Engagement with Postmodern Challenges”.
Our focus this year will be the theological engagement with the challenges of postmodern world in the key areas of Human Thought and Civilization, particularly on questions connected to Ontology, Epistemology, and Axiology. Prominent scholars speaking at the event include Dr Aref Ali Nayed (Libya), Dr Saeed Foudeh (Jordan), Dr Umar Faruq Abd-Allah (USA), Dr Abdal Hakim Murad (UK), Dr Khalid Zahri (Morocco), Dr Hakima Chami (Morocco), Dr Megawati Moris (Malaysia), Dr Haslina Ibrahim (Malaysia), Dr Moh Zaidi Ismail (Malaysia), and Dr Muhammad Farid Shahran (Malaysia).
